[text_output]The islanders of Corfu have had a love affair with the arts and religion since the ancient years and particularly theater, music, painting, local handmade crafts, icons, hagiographies or Saint paintings. Cultural development had been continuous through the centuries.

Today the island has over 80 orchestras, both professional and amateur, art exhibitions throughout the city, numerous orthodox churches and monasteries from the byzantine or from the renaissance period where some dated from the 12th century, the roman catholic cathedral of Corfu “Duomo”, public representation of religious and other traditions on all seasons, especially Easter celebrations in the city of Corfu.[/text_output]
